Russia to hold presidential elections March 2, 2008
Russia will hold presidential elections March 2, 2008. The RF Federation Council made a unanimous decision during an extra session November 26.

The decision will come into effect after official publication in Rossiyskaya Gazeta November 28. The nomination procedure will start some 5 days after. Thus, the start of the presidential race will coincide with elections to the Duma.

The registration of the candidates will be finished January 16, 2008. The agitation campaign will kick off February 2 and will last 27 days.

Garry Kasparov, Grigory Yavlinsky, Gennady Zyuganov, Vladimir Zhirinovky, Nikolay Kuryanovich, Vladimir Bukovsky, Mikhail Kasyanov and Boris Nemtsov have already announced intention to run for President.

Meanwhile, President Vladimir Putin mentioned of five 'worthy' candidates, Interfax reports.
