Armenia foreign minister "takes president's message" to Qatar

Foreign minister Edward Nalbandian on Sunday, June 18 arrived in Doha to hand over president Serzh Sargsyan's message to Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

Nalbandian met his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani to discuss the process of implementation of agreements reached between the leaders of the two countries during Sargsyan's visit to the Western Asian country.

At the meeting, the diplomats discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation, as well as developments in the Middle East and the Gulf crisis.

Nalbandian said that Armenia maintains warm relations with the Arab world, urging the parties to the conflict to ease tensions by means of diplomatic methods.

Qatar has been dramatically cut off by a Saudi-led coalition of Arab nations, claiming it’s because of its ‘support for terrorism’.

In what is one of the worst rifts among some of the Arab world’s most powerful states, Egypt, the UAE and Bahrain followed Saudi Arabia in severing all ties to Qatar.
