Henrikh Mkhitaryan says 'had no time for football' as a schoolkid

Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has revealed that he was focused on studying at school and had no time to think about football, the club's official website says.

"Of course, after school I was supposed to go to training, but honestly I was thinking about school because it was good for me and my knowledge," the Armenia international said.

"I enjoyed all of the subjects and loved all of the teachers. I had a good relationship with all of them, and I tried to be present at every class."

The 28-year-old also said he used to play basketball with his class mates quite a lot, and did a lot of sprinting too.

Mkhitaryan was one of the star performer for Jose Mourinho's side in Europe last season and played a major role in helping the club win the Europa League and secure their place back in the Champions League.
