Armenia mulls new military loan from Russia

Armenia is discussing with Russia the issue of getting a new military loan, finance minister Vardan Aramyan said on Monday, July 17.

The minister did not divulge details concerning the amount of the loan, revealing only that consultations have started this year, RFE/RL Armenian Service reports.

According to him, some $30 million remain from a previous $200 million Russian loan which will be spent on military goods.

Besides the abovementioned $200 million loan, Armenia has also acquired Iskander missile systems from Russia which were first displayed during a military parade marking the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence in September 2016.
