Int'l tourist arrivals to Karabakh grew by 46% in first half of 2017

46% more tourists visited Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) in the first six months of 2017 against the same period in 2016, data provided by the economy ministry revealed on Tuesday, July 18.

Besides, visits to the country’s main tourist attractions also surged, with 5000 travelers visiting the Tigranakert Historical Cultural Reserve in the reporting period, which is by 62% more compared to the figures registered last year.

According to preliminary estimates, tourism receipts amounted to AMD 1.7 billion in January-June, and AMD 25 million investments were attracted from international donors.

16,500 foreign travelers, chiefly from Russia, the United States and the EU countries, visited Artsakh in 2015, but the number of tourists declined by 16% last year due to the Four-Day War unleashed by Azerbaijan against Karabakh.
