"Pacific Rim: Uprising" teaser promo features John Boyega

The first footage of "Pacific Rim: Uprising" has been released online in the form of teaser promo, featuring a brief appearance of its lead actor John Boyega. The 25-year-old, who portrays Jake Pentocast, the son Idris Elba's character in "Pacific Rim", can be seen piloting a Jaeger while telling viewers to "join the Jaeger uprising", AceShowbiz said.

"What is a Jaeger?" the narrator says in the over-1-minute video. "A Jaeger is the pinnacle of human invention. When the monsters came, we did not wait for heroes to fall from the sky and save us, we saved ourselves - innovation is our superpower." There are also some shots of Jaeger machinery.

The second "Pacific Rim" movie is directed by Steven S. DeKnight from a script he wrote with Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin, based on a story by Guillermo del Toro. It's expected to be released in theaters across the U.S. on February 28, 2018.

Joining John Boyega in the upcoming flick are Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian among others. The sci-fi monster movie also sees the return of Charlie Day as Dr. Newton Geiszler, Rinko Kikuchi as Mako Mori, and Burn Gorman as Dr. Hermann Gottlieb.
