Mel Gibson crime drama “Dragged Across Concrete” adds cast

Tory Kittles has joined Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn in Dragged Across Concrete, the gritty crime thriller from Bone Tomahawk filmmaker S. Craig Zahler, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

The Liongate/Summit movie, which also counts Jennifer Carpenter and Laurie Holden in its cast, is currently shooting in Vancouver.

The script centers on two policemen — one an old-timer (Gibson), the other his volatile younger partner (Vaughn) — who find themselves suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics becomes the media's cause du jour. Low on cash and with no other options, these two embittered soldiers descend into the criminal underworld to gain their just due, but instead find far more than they wanted awaiting them in the shadows.

Kittles will play a man recently released from prison who, in an attempt to do right by his struggling mother and little brother, gets mixed up with a big-time Russian drug trafficker who Gibson and Vaughn's characters are tracking.

Keith Kjarval of Unified Pictures is producing the film along with Zahler's frequent collaborators, Dallas Sonnier of Cinestate and Assemble Media's Jack Heller. Kjarval's Unified Film Fund I is financing. Sefton Fincham of Look to the Sky Films is also producing.

Kittles just completed Richard II at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego and is set to return for season three of USA's Carlton Cuse sci-fi series Colony. Other recent credits include HBO's True Detective and the war thriller Man Down starring Gary Oldman and Shia LaBeouf.
