Prime minister Karen Karapetyan said on Wednesday, September 13 that more flights will be operated from Shirak airport in the northern Armenian town of Gyumri which will help develop tourism in the city, Aysor.am reports.
In a Q&A session at the parliament, Karapetyan was responding to concerns raised by lawmaker from Tsarukyan bloc Vardan Ghukasyan.
Ghukasyan who was once the mayor of Gyumri, said that the city is going through dire straits.
Karapetyan agreed that Gyumri doesn't make full use of its tourism potential, but added that Kumayri project is aimed at reviving the sector in the city.
Besides, the PM said, more flights will be carried out from Shirak airport starting from October.
