Tesla CEO Elon Musk tweeted that the reveal event and test rides for the company's much-anticipated semi truck will occur on October 26 in Hawthorne, California.

"Tesla Semi truck unveil & test ride tentatively scheduled for Oct 26th in Hawthorne. Worth seeing this beast in person. It's unreal," Musk said.

According to earlier reports,the electric vehicle maker has been in discussions with the California and Nevada departments of motor vehicles about getting permission to test a pair of self-driving, electric trucks "in a platooning and/or Autonomous mode without having a person in the vehicle."
