Medvedev in Armenia: growth in trade turnover, no change in gas price

President Serzh Sargsyan on Tuesday, October 24 met Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev who is paying an official visit to Armenia.

Following a number of meetings on the first day of Medvedev's visit, it became clear that the tariffs of Russian gaswill remain unchanged for Armenia in 2018.

The volumes delivered to Armenia, meanwhile, will grow in the coming year.

At the meeting in Yerevan, Sargsyan and Medvedev hailed the increase in trade turnover, "very good dynamics" in agricultural supplies, high-tech industry, security and defense cooperation, investment cooperation.

“Our relations are characterized by a sustained political dialogue at all levels along with broad coordination of foreign policy, good work on international and regional platforms, fruitful interaction in the economic, military and military-technical sectors and specifically in the field of mutually beneficial trade," Sargsyan said.

"Last year we saw a 15% growth, while the growth in trade turnover proved slightly over 23% for the past eight months of this year, which is encouraging."

Meanwhile, Medvedev noted with pleasure that the rise in bilateral commodity turnover was even greater - almost 30% - than the figure mentioned by Sargsyan.

Prior to meeting the president, the head of the Russian government met with Armenian prime minister Karen Karapetyan to discuss cooperation in a number of areas.
