Iran to deliver more gas to Armenia

Armenia and Iran have agreed to increase the volume of gas imported to Armenia in the framework of the Electricity for Natural Gas program.

Iran exports electricity to Armenia in winter and imports it when domestic demand soars in summer.

Armenia's minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources Ashot Manukyan discussed the issue with Behzad Babazadeh, Director for International Relations at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).

While in Tehran, minister Manukyan also met Armenian-Iranian businessmen who are interested in the prospect of investing in Armenia's wind and solar energy sectors.

A newly-established free economic zone on the Iranian-Armenian border is expected to boost bilateral trade between the two countries.

The FEZ that opened in the southern Armenian town of Meghri will embrace a wide framework of sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing industry, trade, cargo shipment and storage economy and tourism among others.
