Energy export from Armenia will grow threefold, minister says

The role of Armenia as an energy corridor between Iran and Georgia will grow, tripling the potential of exporting electricity, minister of energy infrastructures and natural resources Ashot Manukyan said on Friday, December 22.

According to the minister, three solar stations have been put to operation in Armenia in 2017, and a total of 128 solar photovoltaic stations have been installed so far.

“The project of the modernization and extension of the exploitation period of the Armenian nuclear plant’s second power unit has launched with Russia's credit and grant funds,” Manukyan said.

Also, the minister said that the projects that are currently underway are expected to change the structure of electricity production.
