RA Police: opposition was plotting mass disorders March 1
Following the presidential election, Levon Ter-Petrsoyan and his team-mates initiated a sit-down strike in Liberty Square and held unauthorized rallies and marches to destabilize the capital city, reads a statement issued by the RA Police today.

"Despite repeated warning, the protesters continued to gravely violate the public order and security. On February 29, the Police was informed that the demonstrators will be provided with weapons, grenades, explosive assemblies and iron batons to carry out mass disorders throughout the capital.

In response to law enforcers' request to allow search in the square, the oppositionists started throwing stones, iron batons and Molotov cocktails at them. Thereupon, it was decided to take action to prevent mass disorders. As result of collisions, some policemen were injured and taken to hospital. Inciters of public disorders were detained.

During the search, pistols, a gas tank, petrol can and sound bombs were found. A Yeraz vehicle filled with wooden and iron batons was detained at Republic party office.

The situation is under control. Everything possible is being done to call for account all the initiators of disorders and resumption of normal city life, the Police said.
