Turkish forces burn farms belonging to former Afrin residents: report

The Turkish Army and their allies were reportedly filmed setting several farms on fire in the Syrian region of Afrin over the weekend, Al-Masdar News reports.

The farms allegedly belonged to several former residents of Afrin that fled the area with the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

According to a YPG activist, the Turkish military and their rebel allies are attempting to punish the original residents of Afrin for their support of the YPG and to scare them away from returning to these lands.

The YPG activist claimed that more than 3,000 farms were destroyed by the Turkish forces over the last week.

The activist added that "the agricultural lands and some 800 watering tubes in the area between Afrin city and the Rajo District were recently destroyed."
