Alexander Skakov: final resolution of Karabakh conflict impossible yet
There is no difference where the process of Karabakh settlement is imitated - in the UN, CIS or the OSCE Minsk Group, said Alexander Skakov, head of the CIS department at Russian Institute of Strategic Studies.
"Final settlement of the Karabakh conflict is impossible yet. Only particular problems, such as creation of atmosphere of trust and resolution of some humanitarian issues, can be addressed. The NKR leadership should be a party to talks but this initiative faces fierce resistance on Azerbaijan's part. Moreover, positions of Armenia and NKR may differ on some issues," he said during Yerevan-Moscow-Baku television space bridge.
"It's presumptuous to hope that in 20 years Azerbaijan's economy will be strong enough to dictate demands. Times works for all sides but it's necessary take action immediately," Dr Skakov said.
