PACE LEADERSHIP GENERALLY SATISFIED WITH ARMENIA MEETING ITS COMMITMENTS TO CE
The leadership of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is generally satisfied with the way Armenia meets its commitments given to the Council of Europe. It was stated at the meeting of PACE Armenian delegation head Hovhannes Hovhannisian with PACE secretary general Bruno Haller and PACE President Peter Schieder. At the same time the PACE leadership expressed concern on the fact that Armenia did not yet ratified the 6-th item of the European Convention on Human Rights and Freedoms providing on repeal of death penalty in the country. As Hovhannes Hovhannisian told "Arminfo" agency, the report on Armenia will be approved at the PACE monitoring commission meeting September 10. The final version of the report on holding monitoring in Armenia will be presented to the European parliamentarians at PACE autumn session September 26.
