U.S. troops reportedly remain inside Syria's Manbij

Pick-up trucks with the United States flags were filmed driving on the streets of Manbij on Friday, January 11, patrolling the city’s areas, Al-Masdar News reports.

The U.S. troops are still patrolling the strategic city, near the Turkish border, while U.S. defense officials confirmed on Friday that the U.S. started the withdrawal from Syria, not disclosing further details on the location and timeline of the withdrawal.

For the time being, however, the U.S. troops remain at their local base and continue their patrols.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Turkish-backed rebels are still positioned outside of Manbij, despite the withdrawal of the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG).

The Syrian Arab Army has mostly maintained a presence at the western part of Manbij, while the Turkish-backed rebels remain at the northern outskirts of the city.
