Armenia is among the five best CIS destinations suitable for sightseeing holidays, TurStat analytical agency says in a fresh survey exploring the preferences of Russian travelers.
Belarus, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan also made it to the top five countries for such trips.
In particular, 27% of the votes were cast for Belarus, 22% for Kazakhstan, 16% for Azerbaijan, 12% for Uzbekistan and 9% for Armenia.
According to the data, sightseeing tourism in the CIS countries - including cultural and educational tours and guided outings - amounts to more than three million trips and tours per year.
Meanwhile, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Moscow Oblast, Yaroslavl Oblast and Tula Oblast are top sightseeing tourism spots inside Russia.
