Turkish President Abdullah Gul announced his view on the long debated visit to Armenia yesterday. Gul agreed to be in Yerevan on September 6th to watch the national teams' game, stating that "this game is an important opportunity."

Gul communicated his response to Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan via his special representative.

"The game between Armenia and Turkey gives us advantages beyond the match, in terms of politics. I believe that this opportunity should be taken advantage of especially during this period when the events that have taken place in the Caucasus have made the public anxious. I believe my visit will contribute to establishing a new environment of friendship," the Turkish President said, Sabah Turkish news agency responded.
