Andrey Areshev: OSCE MG death can already be certified
After a serious defeat in the Georgian-South Ossetian front, Western "builders of new Transcaucasia and Central Asia" are trying to vent their frustration on the Azeri-Karabakh conflict, a Russian expert said.
"Moscow's increasing activity in the Karabakh issue was noticed by the West. It can hardly be referred to the joint activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, whose death can be already certified at the moment. Russia's official recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia opens new horizons in the Karabakh issue," said Andrey Areshev, expert at Strategic Culture Foundation.
It's not surprising that Russia, the U.S. and EU act avoiding coordination of steps with each other, according to him.
"Possibility of Nagorno Karabakh's joining the talks, active contacts between Moscow and Stepanakert, willingness to resolve humanitarian issues create a favorable atmosphere for final determination Karabakh's status. Moscow has a good opportunity to shape its policy in the South Caucasus," Areshev said.
