Festivities dedicated to Yerevan's 2790th birthday will be held in Armenia October 10-11.

"The solemn opening ceremony will take place in the National Theater of Opera and Ballet on October 10. Exhibitions and concerts will be organized. Guests from Iran, Georgia, Russian, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Latvia will arrive in Yerevan," said Vano Vardanyan, Deputy Mayor of Yerevan.

The history of Yerevan dates back to the 8th century BC, with the founding of the Urartian fortress of Erebuni in 782 BC at the western extremity of the Ararat plain. It has been the capital of Armenia since 1918 and the twelfth in the history of Armenia.
