As little as 2.7 billion cubic meters of usable water left in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan currently has water reserves of 11.3 billion cubic meters, of which 8.6 billion cubic meters can't be used, Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev said, which means there are only 2.7 billion cubic meters of water are usable in the country.

Mustafayev explained the water shortage by climatic changes, rising temperatures, a decrease in the volume of water coming from neighboring countries, a sharp decrease in precipitation, the development of agriculture and the expansion of water supply networks throughout the country.

It was reported earlier that Kura River, one of the main waterways of the country, has recently become significantly shallow. The residents of local communities say there is so little water in the river that you can see the bottom.
