Alternative energy transportation routes unreal
Alternative energy transportation routes like Nabucco are unreal, a U.S. expert said.

Nabucco is a geopolitical project, although the economic constituent is also important, Frederick Starr , the founding chairman of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies, told U.S. Policy Toward the South Caucasus: Challenges of Energy and Geopolitics conference.

"Energy is a security issue for the entire Trans-Atlantic community. Meanwhile, NATO and EU can't secure Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Moldova," he said. "On the one hand, these countries do not want to join the organizations supported by Russia. At the same time, they are not allowed to join other organizations."

Prof. Starr claimed that Russia doesn't respect sovereignty of former soviet republics and the war against Georgia and the impending dispute with Ukraine over the Crimea is the evidence of this fact.
