The special forces of the Azerbaijani military launched a failed attack on Armenia on July 21 evening, Defense Ministry spokeswoman Shushan Stepanyan has revealed.

She said the Azerbaijani side has suffered losses in the process, and according to preliminary information, some of their servicemen are trapped.

The Armenian side has no losses.

The situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan escalated on July 12, with Azerbaijan launching three unsuccessful infiltration attempts in the next five days. The Azerbaijani military also used artillery and combat drones to target civilian homes in several border settlements in Armenia. Four servicemen of the Armenian army were killed, while Azerbaijan reported 12 deaths. The situation had been relatively calm before the latest attack on July 21.
