Armenia on Wednesday, August 12 decided to open the country’s borders to non-citizens, despite extending the state of emergency for the last time until September 11.

Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan noted that other mitigations in restrictions imposed during the state of emergency can be expected too.

According to him, those who are not hospitalized immediately after entering the country, will be told to self-isolate, while those who test negative for the virus will be free to leave self-quarantine.

The ban on gatherings and demonstrations in Armenia is being lifted, but wearing masks and social distancing is still mandatory.

Also, family and leisure activities involving no more than 40 people can from now on be organized in open and closed spaces.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Armenia reached 40,794 on Wednesday, according to information provided by the Health Ministry. So far, 33,492 people have recovered, 806 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 234 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
