The status of Nagorno-Karabakh is an absolute priority for Armenia, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan has said in an interview with Interfax.

According to him, the introduction of permanent international monitoring mechanisms remains a very important area of work when it comes to the peace process.

"The realization of the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination without any restrictions, ensuring real, tangible security for Artsakh is an important priority," Mnatsakanyan said.

"And we are ready to work both with the co-chairs and with the Azerbaijani side to define formulas that will allow us to compare the measure of a possible compromise."

Another important thing about Karabakh, Mnatsakanyan said, is that over the past thirty years it has shown an absolute ability to organize its social life, ensure its security and assume international obligations.

"The involvement of Karabakh in the negotiation process is a very important issue and, among other things, is of a practical nature," the Armenian foreign policy chief said.

"Strengthening the ceasefire and introducing permanent international monitoring mechanisms remains a very important area of work. We remain committed to continuing the entire spectrum of work and, naturally, I, for my part, are ready to continue this work."

Asked whether he is ready to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart "tomorrow", Mnatsakanyan said "of course, we are ready to meet, and of course we are ready to continue this work."
