Armenia could declare a six-month quarantine once the state of emergency ends on September 11, according to a draft decision submitted by the government to the National Assembly.

The National Assembly approved the measure in the first reading on Friday, September 4, and if approved for good, the quarantine could be extended for another six months.

Governors of provinces, the mayor of Yerevan and the government may declare quarantine. If the epidemic covers two or more regions or spreads throughout the country, the government will declare quarantine. In that case, a special regime may be established in the epidemic zone.

The right to assembly, transportation of goods, educational activities may be restricted too.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 190 to reach 44,461 on Friday. So far, 39,257 people have recovered, 891 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 272 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
