Armenia: Face masks will remain mandatory after state of emergency

Face masks will remain mandatory even after the end of the state of emergency on September 11, lawmaker Lilit Makunts from the ruling My Step bloc said on Friday, September 4.

"Restrictions can't be completely removed, we need laws that will allow us to control the situation," Makunts said.

Also Friday, the government submitted a proposal to the National Assembly, which seeks to impose a six-month quarantine once the state of emergency is over. The proposal was approved in the first reading.

The number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Armenia grew by 190 to reach 44,461 on Friday. So far, 39,257 people have recovered, 891 have died from the coronavirus in the country, while 272 others carrying the virus have died from other causes.
