Armenia approves paid paternity leave for new dads

Armenia has introduced a five-day paid paternity leave for working fathers within the first month of a baby's birth.

The parliament on Wednesday, September 16 approved the proposal with 116 votes in favor and one against.

The new package of bills will also benefit mothers. From now on, employers will not be allowed to change the working conditions of mothers of newborns or fire them before the child turns 1.

The bills were drafted by lawmakers from the ruling My Step block.
