Russia, Turkey interested in Caucasus and Black Sea region security
The events of August 2008 proved the importance of Caucasus countries' consolidation, Russian President said.

"It also showed that we should cope with Caucasus problems without interference of non-regional powers," Dmitry Medvedev told a news conference after talks with his Turkish counterpart Abdullah Gul.

"Both Russia and Turkey are interested in secure Caucasus and Black Sea region and we welcome the initiatives advanced by our Turkish counterparts," he said, adding that these initiatives can facilitate resolution of economic, transport and energy problems, RIA Novosti reports.
