No more than 30-40% of the population of Stepanakert have left the city amid the ongoing hostilities unleashed by Azerbaijan, deputy mayor Suren Tamrazyan said on Wednesday, October 7.

Tamrazyan said about a dozen houses or apartment buildings have been damaged in Azerbaijan's fire.

The mayor said "infrastructure continues to work, damages to power supply have been repaired, the administrative building and branches of Karabakh Telecom have been damaged, but the connection is uninterrupted."

According to him, electricity outages are being eliminated in the city, the gas supply has been cut off to ensure the safety of the population, while the water supply is working.

Stepanakert, Shushi and other settlements in Nagorno-Karabakh have come under shelling from the first moment of Azerbaijan's offensive against Karabakh.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.

Donations can be made to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which has launched a fundraising campaign to support Karabakh amid Azerbaijan's aggression.
