Geneva and Moscow to host talks on Karabakh

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian has revealed that negotiations on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh will take place on October 8 in Geneva and on October 12 in Moscow.

Le Drian said the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group maintain daily communication over the matter.

"There will be meetings in Geneva tomorrow, followed by other meetings on Monday in Moscow," the top French diplomat said on Wednesday, October 7.

The French foreign policy chief expressed hope that it will be possible to achieve the resumption of negotiations between the parties.

An Armenian Foreign Ministry representative told PanARMENIAN.Net that no meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers is under discussion at the moment. Dozhd (TV Rain) reported earlier that Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will be traveling to Moscow on October 11 for talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, scheduled for the next day.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.

Donations can be made to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which has launched a fundraising campaign to support Karabakh amid Azerbaijan's aggression.
