VIDEO: Mercenaries trained in Syria camp before deployment in Azerbaijan

Syrian mercenaries are trained in a camp located in Azaz district on the Turkish-Syrian border before being deployed to Azerbaijan, according to a geolocation analysis by Twitter user identified as Samir.

In a photo posted on Twitter, bellingcat open data researcher Alexander McKeever says: "In the foreground you can see men wearing a camo pattern and a red beret commonly worn by members of Furqat al-Hamza and Sultan Murad, in the background the blueish Azerbaijani Border Guard uniforms. Location matches a number of testimonies given over the past week and a half."

Armenia was the first to report on Turkey's deployment of thousands of Syrian fighters to Azerbaijan on September 28. International media publications followed suit, as did reactions from the U.S., France and Russia.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey, launched a large-scale offensive against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27, shelling Armenian positions and civilian settlements with large caliber weapons and rocket systems. Armenia and Karabakh have introduced martial law and total mobilization. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. International and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages, as well as the iconic Ghazanchetsots Cathedral in Shushi.

Donations can be made to Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, which has launched a fundraising campaign to support Karabakh amid Azerbaijan's aggression.
