At the beginning of each year, UEFA judicial committee summarizes referee classifications, both male and female. Among Armenian referees, only Knarik Grigoryan had made progress in 2009: she climbed one class up in UEFA referee classification table and is now appointed Class 2 UEFA referee.

UEFA classification includes 5 classes for male referees: elite, premier, 2, 3 и 4 and 4 classes for female referees: elite, premier, 2, 3. Class promotions are based on results displayed, i.e. quality of refereeing, physical fitness, precious experience, foreign language skills, participation in UEFA seminars, local championship rating and many others. Based on end-of-year results, both promotions and downgrades are possible.
