2-year-old toddler injured in Karabakh is stable, hospital says

A two-year-old toddler named Artsvik, who was injured in Azerbaijan's bombing of the town of Martuni, Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) is getting better, his condition now stable, said Gevorg Derdzyan, a spokesman for Surb Astvatsamayr medical center of Yerevan.

The child underwent surgery after being hospitalized in the Armenian capital․

"The complicated operation on the head went well, the kid's life is no longer in danger. He continues to receive proper medical care and is closely watched by the staff," Derdzyan said in a Facebook post.

Artsvik's nine-year-old sister had died in the rocket attack, unleashed by Azerbaijan on civilian settlements.

Another child from Karabakh, 13-year-old Robert had also been rushed to Yerevan after sustaining severe injuries. Now Derdzyan says there are positive changes in the young boy's condition too: "He has started eating on his own, his consciousness is more active."

Robert and his family were forced to flee Martakert when Azerbaijan's shelling begin but their car was hit in a drone strike on their way out of the town.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
