Catalonia Parliament condemns Azerbaijan's attacks on Karabakh

The Parliament of Catalonia has condemned the attacks by Azerbaijan against the civilian population of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), according to documents shared by the Armenian Embassy in Spain.

The legislature of the autonomous community urged the parties to resume negotiations for reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict, which should be "based on the will of the majority of the citizens of Artsakh."

The document condemned the shelling and bombing of settlements, in particular Azerbaijan's use of cluster munitions to target towns and villages. An Amnesty International investigation has confirmed the use of banned Israeli-made M095 DPICM cluster munitions against civilians in Karabakh.

The Parliament of Catalonia expressed support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
