Armenia: Specific parameters for maintaining Karabakh truce are key

The Armenian Defense Ministry said Monday, October 26 that the immediate introduction of specific parameters for maintaining the ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh are key.

The Defense Ministry added that the process of exchanging the prisoners of war and the bodies of those killed should begin with the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The Armenian side confirmed the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Army adheres to the ceasefire and dismissed Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the humanitarian truce as a provocation.

Azerbaijan, meanwhile, targeted the Armenian positions just one hour into the ceasefire on Monday morning, as well as used its air force to fire on the town of Martuni.

Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed earlier that a humanitarian ceasefire reached on October 10 and October 17 will take effect in the morning of October 26, according to a statement released by the Governments of the United States, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on Sunday.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
