Armenia says will carefully study Iran's approach to Karabakh

Iran's approach to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be thoroughly studied, Armenian Defense Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan said after meeting the Islamic Republic's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday, October 29․

Araghchi detailed his country's approach to overcoming the situation in Karabakh and establishing a ceasefire.

According to a press release, the two expressed concern over the transfer of international terrorists to the conflict zone, which they agreed is a serious threat to the region.

Mnatsakanyan noted that Armenia understands Iran's sensitivities regarding the new threats to regional security, and stressed Iran's role in maintaining regional stability and peace.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
