Putin: Russia doing everything to help end Karabakh war

Moscow does and will continue doing everything in its power to end the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with representatives of religious congregations on Wednesday, November 4.

"Russia is doing everything so that the conflict in the South Caucasus is over as soon as possible, in order to save the lives of people who are standing opposite each other and using weapons to achieve goals that, in our deep conviction, can be achieved in the course of the negotiation process," Putin said.

He noted that Russia maintains communication with both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“I hope we will be able to peacefully achieve a result that would suit all the people living in the region,” Putin added.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and terrorist mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
