Karabakh official announced loss of control over Shushi

Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) presidential spokesman Vahram Poghosyan said Monday, November 9 that the Karabakh army has lost control of the key city of Shushi.

"The enemy is in the outskirts of Stepanakert, the existence of the capital is already endangered," Poghosyan said.

"If we want Shushi to be ours again and Artsakh to be preserved, today we must use all our capabilities to organize a reliable defense in Stepanakert and other directions of the front," Poghosyan wrote on Facebook.

Poghosyan has confirmed the authenticity of his post to several Armenian news outlets. No official from Armenia has commented on the situation.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and terrorist mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
