Russian helicopter "crashes" in Armenia

A Russian helicopter crashed in the Armenian province of Ararat and burst into flames on Monday, November 9, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia reports.

Sputnik Armenia cited sources as saying that the helicopter was allegedly shot down from the direction of Nakhichevan and has crashed in the territory of Armenia.

No details are currently available.

The Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic is part of Azerbaijan, which, with help from Turkey and terrorist mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.
