UNIDO presents Private Sector Development Program
Armenian Minister of Economy Nerses Yeritsyan met Tuesday with Mr. Mohamed-Lamine Dhaoui, Director of Private Sector Development Branch of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), who arrived in the republic to take part in Bridge 6th Annual International Economic Forum.
Mr. Dhaoui outlined the main dimensions of Private Sector Development Program (consulting, job creation possibilities, etc.) to lay solid foundation for international and local business.
For his part, Minister Yeritsyan emphasized that cooperation with the UNIDO will promote both creation of clusters in Armenia and rendering of services that will further creation of new possibilities.
"Armenia and the European Union are negotiating Free Trade Agreement. Armenia is ready to launch institutional reorganization," he said.
The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) helps developing countries and economies in transition in their fight against marginalization.
UNIDO mobilizes knowledge, skills, information and technology to promote productive employment, a competitive economy and a sound environment. Furthermore, the Organization enhances cooperation at global, regional, national and sectoral levels.
UNIDO was established in 1966. It holds a special place in the United Nations system as it is the only organization promoting the creation of wealth and tackling poverty alleviation through manufacturing. The Organization focuses on three inter-related thematic priorities: Poverty Reduction through Productive Activities; Trade Capacity-Building and Energy and Environment.
UNIDO Armenia has been functioning since May 2005.
