Pashinyan: Exchange of prisoners of war expected after body swap

The exchange of prisoners of war in Nagorno-Karabakh will begin after the exchange of bodies of the dead, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Monday, November 16.

According to him, several hundred Armenian servicemen have gone missing during hostilities in Karabakh but the Armenian side is hoping to ultimately find a part of them.

"An injured soldier who was previously considered missing was discovered yesterday," the PM said in an online press conference with 12 media outlets on Monday.

He added that it would be appropriate to establish a day of mourning after the completion of the exchange of bodies. In addition, the head of the Armenian government noted the importance of tackling the social problems of servicemen.

Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev have signed a deal to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Karabakh (Artsakh) President Arayik Harutyunyan said on Tuesday that he has agreed to the deal signed by Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
