U.S. says Karabakh ceasefire holding

The agreements reached under a trilateral statement by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) are currently holding, Jonathan Rath Hoffman, Chief Pentagon Spokesperson for the US Department of Defense told a briefing on Tuesday, November 24.

Hoffman said the American side welcomes such a development.

"Well fortunately, I will say that there is a peace agreement in place right now in between Azerbaijan and Armenia that appears to be holding at the current point," Hoffman said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side is returning all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
