Armenia easing some restrictions under martial law

Armenia decided on Wednesday, December 2 to lift some restrictions under the martial law, declared in the country in the wake of the large-scale war unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh in late September.

According to the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Eduard Aghajanyan, the ban on organizing and participating in rallies and strikes, the special regime for entering and leaving Armenia, as well as restrictions on publications will be lifted completely beginning from Wednesday.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side is returning all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
