Karabakh Ombudsman: Demarcation based on Soviet-era borders unacceptable

Ombudsman of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Artak Beglaryan has described the demarcation of Karabakh on the basis of the borders of the Soviet period as "unacceptable".

"The principle of preserving Soviet borders is unacceptable for us, and the lightning-fast demarcation process an inadmissible," Beglaryan said.

According to him, it is necessary to find the appropriate potential and mechanisms in order to avoid the process, "especially since there are more than sufficient international legal and historical grounds and arguments."

It was reported earlier that Russian peacekeepers will be deployed to certain parts of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
