Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said Saturday, December 19 that at one point there was a high probability of resumption of hostilities in areas outside Armenia's internationally recognized borders, which could move to the territory of the country.

Pashinyan's comments came amid demarcation activity in the country's southern province of Syunik and fears among the public that Armenia could lose territory as a result.

Pashinyan said the country has not ceded any inch of its territory and added that the deployment of the army along the borders is creating new guarantees for Syunik.

According to the mayor of Kapan, the provincial capital of Syunik, 13 settlements in the community are threatened after losing favorable positions in recent days.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian and Azerbaijani Presidents Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev on November 9 signed a statement to end the war in Karabakh after almost 45 days. Under the deal, the Armenian side has returned all the seven regions surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, having lost a part of Karabakh itself in hostilities.
