Two Nagorno-Karabakh civilians (Artsakh) – father and son Mikael and Gegham Petrosyan – were discovered alive on Monday, December 21, Karabakh's State Emergency Situations Service reports.

The two were were considered missing for 61 days. They were taken to a hospital in Stepanakert, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Director of the State Service for Emergency Situations, Major General Karen Sargsyan and Major General of the Karabakh Defense Army Ashot Balasanyan escorted them to the Republican Medical Center, where the Petrosyans will receive the medical care they need.

Sargsyan said search and rescue operation will be ongoing, with the Armenian side making all the effort to find those missing.

It was reported earlier that six servicemen, who hadn't been heard from for more than 70 days, have returned home thanks to the efforts of the Artsakh Emergency Situations Service, the Russian peacekeeping mission in Artsakh and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
