SpaceX launches Turkish satellite into orbit

SpaceX on Thursday, January 7 night sent up a Turkish communications satellite from from Cape Canaveral, WKMG-TV reports.

In late October 2020, several hundred members of the local Armenian-American community staged a protest at SpaceX headquarters in Hawthorne over the company's plans to launch a satellite for the Turkish government. In the recent war against Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), Turkey supported Azerbaijan militarily, also by transferring terrorist mercenaries from the Middle East to fight against Karabakh.

A Falcon 9 rocket launched a satellite called Turksat-5A Thursday evening from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station Space Launch Complex 40.

The satellite will remain in geostationary orbit for up to 30 years.
