Official: Armenia, Russia are opening borders

Armenia and Russia are removing restrictions on travel, introduced due to the coronavirus pandemic, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan told lawmakers on Wednesday, January 21.

According to Grigoryan, the sides first tried to resolve the issue within the Eurasian Economic Union, but failed, so the matter was settled on a bilateral format.

"We made a decision to establish a free border regime on a mutual basis for all citizens who have negative test results or have already had coronavirus," Grigoryan said.

Once travelers receive the results of the Covid-19 tests, they get the "green light" to buy a ticket and cross the border of both Armenia and Russia.
